| Where
did you attend school & what was your major? |
|
I did my undergraduate work in History at USC in Los Angeles,
California and teacher certification at California State University
at Los Angeles. |
| How
long have you been at Eakin? |
|
This
is my fifth year at Eakin. |
| Do
you have previous teaching experience? |
|
I
taught 10 years in Los Angeles for the Los Angeles Unified School
District. In Nashville, I taught 2 years at Head Middle, 4 years
at Percy Priest and 1 year at Napier Elementary. |
| What
led you to teaching? |
|
I
have younger siblings and lots of younger cousins. My mom
was a stay at home mom and also babysat for her nieces and
nephews. I always played school with them and enjoyed it.
While in college, I worked part time at a nearby elementary
school and loved it. During my senior year at USC, a college
supervisor over student teachers recruited me. I began teaching
while working on my credentials. It was a great year of my
life.

| What
is your favorite part of teaching and interacting with children?
What is your favorite part of the school year? |
|
I
enjoy the entire school year. I love to see growth within
my students. It means a lot to me to see children take joy
in their education.
|
| What
is your preferred method of communication? |
|
I
prefer parents make the first contact with the teacher, but
I am always available. I check my email daily and usually return
calls within 24 hours if not sooner. Please let me know if it
is urgent so I can get back sooner. My email is roxanne.ross@mnps.org. |

My
favorite book is the Runaway Bunny by Margaret Wise Brown.
I read it to my youngest child and remind her often of how
much I love her.
