| Where
did you attend school & what was your major? |
|
I attended Northwest University for my undergraduate studies and received my M.A. from Boise State University.
My major is elementary education with minors in Social Studies and Music Ed.
I am certified to teach grades 1-8 and have taught them all in some form or fashion. |
| How
long have you been at Eakin? |
|
Eakin has been my home since the fall of 2004. I love being a part of this amazing community! |
| Do
you have previous teaching experience? |
|
Off and on, I have been teaching for over 30 years. |
| What
led you to teaching? |
|
I was rumbling around without a major for about a year and a half, enjoying my classes and all
the social aspects of being a college student, when one of my advisors finally cornered me and
insisted I settle into a career choice. He was a wonderful insightful man and had witnessed my joy of children.
He signed me up for education and began pushing me into the right courses and I have loved every moment.
As they say, the rest is history. p.s. I often revisit this wonderful, retired instructor |
| What
is your favorite part of teaching and interacting with children?
Do you have any special interests or what is your favorite part
of the school year? |
|
I love all the different personalities and cultures. I love building a family in my classroom. |
| What
is your preferred method of communication? |
|
I check e-mail at least twice a day Carolyn Quiggins and I keep my cell phone (496-5112)
on my desk for emergency communication with parents (and my two sons who are both at Hume-Fogg this year.)
If I am instructing and not able to answer, leave a voicemail and I will return the call ASAP. |
